A dinner and a birthday...
Part I
My good friend Laura invited me over for dinner at her house two Thursdays ago.
I have known Laura since our kids were in the 6th grade, and she always has been a very giving and caring person to me and to my daughter.
Her son and my youngest daughter are still friends as they move on into their senior year in high school and Laura and I contemplated how we are going to manage all the time, expenses and emotions that this school year promises to bring us.
I enjoyed a walk back into memory lane, good food and spending time with all the family pets. We can't have any pets because of my oldest daughter allergies and asthma so whenever I get the chance to spend time with other people's pets; I do enjoyed it tremendously.
This is Laura's backyard and close to the area where she was grilling the chicken.
I love this orchid and its the first time that Laura's plants are growing because as she herself put it "if she planted it, it usually died"!
I prepared the salad and helped setting up the table.
We ate and talked about the kids time in middle and in high school and how fast its all happening and how unprepared we both are to deal with high school graduations!
This are some of Laura's family pets that I adopted for the evening:
This is Eva, she is Goldy's daughter with the neighbors black Labrador.
The neighbors house and Laura's connect by their backyard so Eva gets to see and hear her dad bark all the time.
This is mama Goldy.
She is very playful and wants to be center of attention all the time.
This is the man of the house he was Goldy original mate.
He is the oldest one and the most calm and collected of the three. I love his face; its shows his beauty, peace and maturity.
This giant ball of yellow and orange fur is Poo Bear!
He is huge and somehow agile at the same time. They don't understand why he is so big because they don't overfeed him and he's being checked by the vet. I guess he is just born to be big.
He is their Garfield, well not really he's way more loving than Garfield.
I wore:
Boundaries skirt is a 100% cotton, just thrifted at my Salvation Army store.
To The Max shirt, made in The Philippines and purchased with the skirt.
Merona sandals from the Ft Lauderdale Salvation Army store at the beginning of July.
New York& Company purse, a gift from an old friend back in 05 or 06.
All the bangles were also purchased the same day that I got the skirt and the shirt.
Necklaces: the longer one was thrifted, the double one was made for me by one of my old supervisor and the one with strings is from Steinmart.
PartII
This past Thursday was my niece's birthday and I decided to wear the same skirt because it felt like a Thursday skirt!
We had great fun, the girls playing the new Harry Potter game for the Wii while we cheered them on.
We also tried to see if the girls remembered some of the our earliest memories of their times together and of the games they used to played.
We had some pizza (sorry we ate it before any photos were taken) and the most delicious cake from Sweet Art By Lucida located in Pembroke Pines. We love, love their cakes and have purchased them for all of our birthdays.
My niece also has a giant goldfish as a pet.
He comes up to the top of the tank and she pets him like he's a dog!
I wore:
The same skirt as two Thursdays ago; the recently thrift 100% cotton Boundaries skirt.
Old Navy top, 100% cotton, made in Mexico and thrifted two weeks ago.
Steve Madden studded sandals.
Worthington purse.
Necklaces and bracelets are from Steinmart, DOTS and thrifted.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week,

Lots of fun here - I love all the sweet dogs. Do you think the cat is getting extra meals from a neighbour? They are quite clever at getting themselves 'adopted'!
Love your outfits - lucky you, you look just as good in these muted colours as you do in the bright ones. Happy birthday to your neice!
Your necklaces in both part 1 and part 2 are gorgeous.
Lots of love from Sydney,
x Kel

As always, I love all of your jewellery and both pairs of fabulous sandals. I love that beautiful expression on that lovely Goldy boy's face - and that cat looks so cranky!

I love the paisley pattern on that skirt and adore those sandals.
Those animals are so cute especially the huge cat, some moggies are just born to be big.
Have a lovely week and thanks for sharing your adventures. x
My dear Ofelia, I am so glad to see your beautiful face and your warm smile again.
I missed you

Hi my dear-all the animals are so cute and fab pictures too! Hope your niece had a lovely birthday and your outfits are lovely too, have a nice Sunday xx
I love those sandals! I wish I could pull those ankle straps off. Your niece must be one talented kid. To train a goldfish to be petted is a pretty impressive feat.
Beautiful pics as always, Ofelia. I love the idea of petting a goldfish!
What a wonderful way to spend time with good people, which is an indication that you surround yourself with people like you ... beautiful people!
Congratulations to your niece for her birthday and I must say to you ... Love, love your paisley skirt!
You always wear cute necklaces!.This post is particular pleasure to me: I love dogs . I have five and recently died my dearest little pet ( 17 years old). I have broken my heart yet.
Have a very nice week.Y
Mrs. Exeter, thank you on your birthday wishes for my niece and you are probably right; Poo Bear may be getting a second family some where else and getting double feedings!
Kel, thank you very much!
Sarah, thanks my dear. Poo Bear can be a cranky one I was just taken by his size and that he is still so agile!
Vix, I also love paisley on anything! Like I said before I love animals specially my friends pets.
Sacramento, I miss you as well and I'm glad that you and your wonderful spirit are back to blogger land!
Sharon, the animals are very cute and they were so sweet to me and we all enjoyed my niece's birthday.
Jude, thanks so much! It does takes a special kid to have the patience and kindness to want to bond with a goldfish.
Loo, the goldfish and my niece have a special connection and he is lucky to be her pet because she really loves him.
Rosy, thanks for this lovely comment.
I have a small family so most of the time my friends are as important to me as a family member.
Yoana, I know how you feel about your dogs; I had a small dog many years ago and after he died I haven't been able to get myself another pet.
Also my oldest daughter has terrible allergies to most dogs and their hair so I can only enjoy my friend's dogs because I can't have any at my home.
Yes, yes. it's so nice to see you again in all your finery. I love how you put everything together. You must have HUGE closets.
The pets are wonderful. So nice to sit with old friends and eat together.
Happy birthday to your niece. How delicious that cake looks.
Have a good and easy week.
I love the skirt and how it goes with different tops... awesome!
the dogs are adorable... I miss having dogs in my hours... we had to leave ours in Malawi because it was a better life for them... living in an apartment building would have been cruel for a white alsatian mutt and a jack russell...I miss them terribly...
The birthday cake looks delicious... happy birthday to your niece!
looks like you had an amazing time and you really must have huge closets :)
Love seeing the pets--and you too of course! Great skirt--and when it works, it doesnt matter how many times your wear it!
Paula, my closet is quite small but I do have boxes where I keep the stuff that can't fit in the closet.
It's wonderful to have friends that are supportive and helpful and that can also cook a good dinner for us.
Tabouleh, thanks so much for your birthday wishes for my niece.
I'm sorry to hear that you have to leave your pets behind but like you said a spacious place its probably the best for them but I do understand that its still hard not to having them around.
Viviane, I did enjoy both evenings and my closet is not that big but I have other areas where store my clothes.
Paula, you are so right when a clothing item works it works in many ways!
I love her dogs,
Looks like you had a great time, love your skirt and sandles :)
Claire, the dogs are so lovely and gorgeous!
Ofelia--the pattern in the skirt is wonderful. This skirt will prove to be very versatile. All of our pets live in our workshop--two black cats and 4 birds. I'm amazed that the goldfish will let your niece pet him/her.
Terri, two cats and 4 birds is quite a family of pets. Do they get along? Are the cats not into birds?
And yes my niece has been petting her goldfish since she got him!
