Like I said before, it has to be a special occasion for me to go out during the week. On Tuesday May 24th, my friend Maria and I went out for some Moe's and some Bill Cunningham!
It was the last day that the documentary was playing at Cinema Paradiso and I couldn't let it pass without seeing it.
Moe's is Mexican food with a touch of Caribbean flavors.
And it's very affordable!
It's also closer to me than to Maria's so she drove to meet for dinner and I drove to the theater.
My salad; under the layers of vegetable is a very spicy chicken with medium salsa.
Maria's dinner also included some chips and cheese but it was eaten before I got to the camera.
By the theater entrance.
The soft green and turquoise colors are a great contrast again the gold of the light fixture.
The marquee, outside the theater entrance.
The poster's photos are full of color and fabulous outfits.
Iris Apfel is in the poster as well as in the documentary; and in case that you don't know she is one of my
fashion heroes.

For a Tuesday and a documentary there were a lot of us at the theater.
There is a scene were he is asked if he ever had a romantic relationship and he smiles with sadness in his eyes and said "no, because he implies that being a homosexual was not acceptable in his family.
He also started to cried when asked why he goes to church every Sunday. Again is implied that he is repenting the fact that he is gay. Many of us in the audience were crying during this part of the movie.
The movie was beautiful, funny and showcase Mr. Cunningham artistic abilities as well as his fragile spirit.
If you like fashion, photography, and independent spirit: check this movie out.
This is the lighted and retro theater exit hallway. As we were exiting it felt like you were leaving a ball and not a movie.
I wore:
Another one of my old Target shirts.
A.M.I. skirt from a local Ft Lauderdale store around 7 years ago.
My oldest daughter sandals that are a gift from my mom's to her and that she let me wear because the colors are a perfect match.
This is the skirt's flower design. It is on both sides of the skirt.
My bag is from 2008 and I got it in Miami Beach at a store that is not longer on Lincoln Rd.
It doesn't have a name tag.
Necklace is from Steinmart and it's from 2008. Do you remember the trend of ribbon ties on jewelry?
One of the bracelet is from India and the other one is from Dots.
Both rings are presents from my girls.
Have a fantastic and fun week!

I saw the Cunningham movie last night!
Wendy, it was one of my favorite movies of the last couple of months. Simple, smart, funny and with lots of heart not special effects!
Must try and see this film - now that I've read your review of it.
Cunningham has a fragile soul.
It is sad that he has not had a romantic relationship - no wonder his eyes had sadness in them when asked th question. I think this film has alot of Soul.
I adore all the beaded jewellery and fanciable fashionable fancies;)
I want your necklace. Quiero ese collar divino, Ofelia, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

damn, how I looooove turquoise jewellery! really beautiful :) love the pic of the window by the theater entrance. turquoise and gold are really a great contrast!
You have introduced me to something new. Bill Cunningham sounds so interesting. I'd never heard of him or the movie. But I am going to look for him on the internet. So sad that being gay has been so hard for him.
Your outfit rocks and this is the first of those scalloped bags that I have loved. I love your pics at the theater. I have just got to get out more.
I've never heard of Bill Cunningham before, that film sounds heartbreaking.
Your dinner, on the other hand, looks fabulous. Chips and cheese? Count me in!
Love the turquoise on you and that pretty ribbon tie necklace, a real statement piece. My Mum had the same bag as you in purple, I've no idea what happened to it. Enjoy your week. Besos. xxx
Adore your turqoise necklace. I've got a very similar bag in purple!
xx
OMG that purse and your jewelery are so gorgeous!! I love this color too (turquoise is my favorite), that skirt looks very playful: you looked fabulous!
I think it might take a while for the movie to come out in Belgium (we are often a few months behind in Europe... in Belgium even more than the UK or France, I think). Anyhow loved reading this and I am considering going to the movies in order to watch this movie (thanks to you)!
Fashion, Art and other fancies, you must definitely see the documentary. I think you will enjoy it and gain a lot admiration for Mr. Cunningham.
Sacramento, muchas gracias mi querida amiga! Ya se ha quien darcelo si alguna vez decido regalarlo.
Viviane, this theater is one of my favorite places to watch a movie because it's so retro and has fabulous architectural touches.
And, I do have a lot of real and not so real turquoise jewelry for some reason.
Judy, I'm glad that you want to learn about Mr. Cunningham. I've been admiring his photos since the early 90's when I lived and read the newspaper in New York City.
I think you should go out more; specially is there is an activity that you enjoy.
Vix, I'm so happy that your lovely Mum and I shared some similar taste in bags.
Loo, I would love to see the bag in purple.
I only seen it in blue, green, white and red.
Angie, I think you will have a lovely time watching the documentary.
Just like you ( my fellow Sagittarius), I love the anything turquoise.
Es la primera vez que oigo acerca de ello, pero estaré atenta a la llegada de la peli en España, por cierto, ese collar es magnÃfico y el resultado con el resto de las joyas es espectacular.
I'm dying for mexican food! I always enjoy your posts, full of ideas and good life. I'm totally in love with the bag and necklace.
have a nice week dear.
Yoana
Rosy, creo que si ve el documentario le gustara. Especialmente por que tiene una historia de como se desarrollo la "street fashion" que es ahora muy prominente en blogs y en websites.
Yoana, I love mexican foods specially the new kinds of restaurants that are coming up now because they combine the Caribbean Flavors (seasonings) with the most known Mexican plates and its a delicious marriage of flavors and colors.
Ofelia, I am so glad you posted on Bill Cunningham! He is one of my favorite artists and I have been wanting to see the movie desperately, but did not get a chance. I hope I will some day. You summarize a beautiful and poignant part of the movie regarding Cunningham's agony related to his sexual preferences. I was moist-eyed without even seeing the movie. The theater gives the due respect to Cunningham, what a beautiful building!!
I had the same moving experience after I saw Valentino: The Last Emperor. All these artists have rich lives but filled with angst. I cried my eyes out at that movie. Your sensibilities are similar to mine and if you have not seen the movie, try to as I am sure you will enjoy it.
The food looks so inviting, especially your dinner. And I absolutely love, love the necklace. I love the ribbon string and the beautiful color!!
I love cinema paradisio! Such a sad but good movie. I still love ribbon necklaces too :)

Wasn't that film wonderful? Even my husband enjoyed it and he thought I was dragging him to a fashion film. I am admiring the nameless bag. My plan is to mail the book out Wednesday morning--I've been busy trying to get my courses underway!
