Today we went...

Today Shefali and I (and our offsprings) went to see The Vatican Splendors Exhibition at the Museum of Art in Ft Lauderdale.

It was a splendor for our senses and our love of Bernini, Michaelangelo, Bramante, Saint Peters Basilica, Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Loads of beautiful Madonnas and Cherubs, and a mix of Byzantine, Baroque and Renaissance religious art. One amazingly large processional cross and a copy of The Pieta'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically, art geek heaven. Unfortunately (different from Art Basel) no photos were allowed "Anywhere", Sob, Sob, Sob...

Here are some of the pictures we took outside the exhibition:

Outside with Shefali by Robert Indiana's Hope Sculpture.

I'm wearing a made-in-India skirt with a lace slip (5 years old). Shirt and cardigan from Target (4 years old).
Thrifted necklaces (last week). Bracelets from local Indian store. Mudd sandals. Crochet bag from Marshall's (7 years old).

Exhibition banners outside the Museum.

A closer look to the banners and a modern glass high riser.

Walking to eat at Las Olas Riverfront! Spanish style arches.

Yummy Empanadas! Stuffed bread or pastry  made with either chicken, pork, meat, cheese and/or vegetables inside.

This is Argie Grill. I've been coming here with friends and family for the last 10 years. They have the best empanadas around. It is a family restaurant and the owners are from Argentina; they know us and always give us an excellent service!

Here is lovely Shefali and I. Shefali had been there for me in so many times of crisis and joy. She helped me with my youngest one through all of her middle school years and she's still here for us now that our kids are in high school. She is very funny and has an amazing wit.

This is chimichurria, is an Argentinian sauce. It's made with olive oil, finely chopped parsley, minced garlic,  white or red vinegar, and red pepper flakes. I'm not sure how many of the ingredients they use. It's just delicious!

I got an spicy cajun shrimp empanada!

Many choices but I always go for the spicier ones!

Another view of the building across from Museum as we were walking back to the parking lot.

A see you later to Robert Indiana's Hope!

At the stop light, on the way home.

It was a beautiful day! This is very close to the college where I take my Saturdays classes.

A sticker from the exhibition!

Tickets, pamphlets and prayer cards.

The only items I could afford. All crosses, angels, books, etc... were so over priced.

Saint George, Our Father, Saint Michael.

This is my skirt flower design.

You and Shefali both look so beautiful Ofelia! I love the pic of the double row of tall straight palm trees and the blue sky... (it reminds me of the opening credits of CSI
Miami!)

Empanadas AND religious art exhibit? That's MY kind of Sunday!

Your picture of the clouds looks like something from an inspirational poster- the clouds are so fluffy and picturesque.

Oh my goodness! Please, please stop posting food. It makes me so hungry and super jealous of you :). There are no empanadas to be found anywhere in Japan. You and your friend look lovely.
